How Can a Little Boy Make Me Laugh Everyday?

Duffy is growing up so fast! He says or does something new every day, which usually results in me laughing. Today we were watching my Tivo'd "Secret Life of the American Teenager" and two of the people started kissing, Duffy watched for a second and then turned to me and said "Eww!" I almost fell off the couch laughing! I seriously didn't think they started that until like first grade, boy am I in for it :)

Cooling Off in the Fountains

We knew it was going to be hot on Wednesday, so we decided to head out to the fountain at the Gateway mall. Duffy hasn't played in them before so he wasn't sure he wanted to get in at first, especially because he wasn't in his swimsuit (I just packed extra clothes). Joey gave him some help getting into it and then he really loved it! Joey took Maisy out for a second too, but mostly she just hung out on the sidelines with me. We had a great time together and can't wait to do it again.

Our Inaugural Boat Trip for 2009

Well, it's the end of June and we FINALLY got out onto the boat. This year's weather has been crazy! Duffy went out a couple of weeks ago with just my parents but I wasn't there to take pictures and it was too cold to get into the water, so I am calling this our inaugural trip out. It was also Maisy's first time EVER on the boat. She has the cutest little life jacket (which is, of course, the nicest one we've ever owned by the way!) she isn't too fond of it because it barely leaves room for her to see over, but she was a very good girl and LOVED the waves.
Duffy is truly a water lover. Lake, swimming pool, slip and slide, hot tub, bath tub, it doesn't matter as long as it's wet. He's quite the daredevil too so the boat is just a dream come true for him. He loved the tube after we convinced him he wasn't going to fall off, and loved jumping off the back of the boat, as long as someone was in front of him so he could see where they were. Give him a couple more trips and I'm sure he will be the bravest out of all of us.
We all took turns on the tube with Duffy, and my dad and sister Aimee went for a wild ride by themselves, my mom and I were sore just from laughing so hard at them! I have to admit I was a little jealous of the wild ride since I normally really like them but since I was "one-armed" (I have screwed up my right arm somehow and couldn't use it to hold on) I had to settle for a mild ride with Duffy and my sister then mom, and we had a blast, even though it was still pretty cold.
My parent's have had this boat since I was about 9 years old and I have so many fun memories on it. I am so grateful that I can share it with my kids also, thanks mom and dad!

Movie Night

Last night Duffy and I decided to throw a movie night for Joey since he had a bad day on Wednesday. We emailed him an invitation and headed to the store to buy a movie ($4 at Wal-Mart for tons of Dad's day movies!) and treats. We had dinner, then got into our pj's and started the movie. We even had an "intermission" to make Jiffy Pop, eat our various candies (Duffy insisted on cotton candy), and have some root beer (water for Duffy, poor kid!). We had a blast!!! Joey and I decided we need to have a weekly family movie night, it was so much fun to get into our jammies early and just sit together for a while without anything else to do. I just can't say enough how much I love my little family!

Random Updates on Life

First, probably our biggest deal going on right now: our little girl is getting SO BIG! I can't believe she will be a year old in less than 3 weeks! Where has the time gone? These are some pictures of her standing all on her own, she's really quite proud of herself everytime she does, and we are too. This past couple of weeks have been so exciting because she is really starting to do a lot of new things like standing up without holding on to anything, signing "more" when I feed her, she says "Hi" "Bye" "Dada" and "Papa" and I think she tries to say "Duffy" too, but you would NEVER understand it! She claps and tries to imitate other things we are doing and eats a few things by herself. I have been amazed on a daily basis ever since I had Duffy 3 years ago and I am just so lucky to be a mommy, it's so exciting to learn the world all over again through their eyes. (By the way: ignore the mismatched pj's-the night before was a battle and by the time I would have had a chance to change her she was READY to eat and go to sleep, so she wore her daytime shirt to bed!)

Don't you just love a good milk mustache?

I finally found Maisy some biter biscuits, they have been out at both stores here for a while for some strange reason. She loves them! She makes a huge mess but it keeps her happy for a few minutes at least :) Wednesday I found a recipe for homemade teething biscuits though so Duffy and I made some last night and she loves those just as much, which is nice because I know exactly what's in them, plus they cost less than a dollar for a batch of 15! Yay for me ;)

What a cute girl!

I love this picture even though it's not the best quality! It's just a boy and his dog :) Buddy is getting pretty old and crotchety (?) so this picture is no small feat and he got up right after I took it. Duffy just loves Buddy and told me that Buddy was cold and needed a blankie, sometimes he can be really nurturing, and I love that about him: all boy with a few sweet spots!

Joey plays in a softball league on Tuesday nights and it is always the highlight of Duffy's week. He waits and waits to play with Daddy, even though we just watch. This is a pic of him waiting on the bleachers for the game to start, can't you just see the excitement in his face?

Here are the pretty little faces I get to wake up to every morning! I am such a lucky mom, not only to have such healthy, darling children but also to be the one that gets to be with them everyday. One day I'll go back to work but for now I am so grateful to be home with them, I wouldn't want to miss all the new fun things they do every day! The top one I thought was great because her hair is so long in front that it gets crazy and hangs down into her eyes, but I refuse to cut it because she's my baby and I can't stand the thought of cutting her sweet hair!
